ABOUT US
Funded under a grant contract from the State of Tennessee Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services, the Grundy Safe Communities Coalition serves as the substance abuse prevention coalition for Grundy County.

Our mission is to be united together to establish a safe, caring, drug-free community that supports youth and families.

What is a coalition?

As outlined by the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA), the goal of a coalition is to create and maintain safe, healthy and drug-free communities.

Coalitions work to do this by studying patterns of and changes in substance abuse within a given community and identify who is most affected and how. They partner with local people impacted by substance abuse, as well as groups representing the community, including service organizations, law enforcement, the business community, and others, to develop local strategies for preventing substance abuse. The coalition staff plan regular meetings to update these stakeholders and to provide an opportunity for everyone present to share perspectives on the impact of substance abuse. In this way, the coalition can work together toward a common vision for the community's future.
